Computing Services Announces the Technology Workshops for Summer 2008

For the fourth year, Allegheny College Computing Services is offers workshop on various aspects of technology available at the College. This year eleven workshops will be offered in June and July thanks to the expertise of many folks around campus that incorporate technology in creative yet practical ways in their daily work.

Working on Summer Workshops for College Employees

After a few really productive brainstorming sessions, the field of possible topics for this year's employee training sessions narrows into an exciting mix of topics that range from desktop publishing to tips on greener computing.

Topics still under consideration are:

  • Facebook More Than A Waste of Time
  • Staying Sane - Tips on Organizing Your Digital Life
  • Office 2007 Overview
  • Informer
  • Tabletents, Tri-folds and Flyers - Publisher 2003
  • Publicity 2.0 More than Tabletents, Tri-folds and Flyers
  • Get the Picture, Tips For Working with Images
  • Green Computing - Computer Habits That are Environment Friendly
  • Twitter Me This, Relevant Tools of Web2.0
  • Effective Writing Techniques
  • Charting Your Way Through Excel

We chose the topics based on questions received through User Services, surveys conducted by AAC and general direction that Computing Services and technology are heading. Over the coming weeks the list of topics will be finalized and a schedule created.

NITLE Instructional Technology Workshop Registration Deadline

Friday, April 4th is the registration deadline for the NITLE workshops on teaching students who grew up in the digital age.

The workshops Teaching Digital Immigrants and Visual Literacy: Tools for Teaching and Learning with Images still have spaces available. Both workshops are full-day sessions that will be offered on May 15 and 16 respectively.

Participation in these workshop is open to members of the Allegheny community and faculty, librarians, and technologists from peer colleges of the NITLE network. Visit the online registration form before Friday April 4 to reserve your place in these workshops.

The registration period for the remaining instructional technology workshop remains open until a week prior to the workshop.
