First of all, congratulations to Jason and Tiffany!! Since no one is posting I'll catch everyone up on what has been going on...
...Let's see, so far since the last post we have eliminated the generic "gator" login in our public spaces and moved to trackable user logins(if anyone thinks OpenLDAP and AD integrations are easy let me and Rick know). I think I wrote and rewrote about 2000 lines of VBScript code for this cutover(I'm still writing) and I'm not a programmer. Personally, I think it went remarkably well, although I doubt my colleagues would agree with me. We moved in some 3000+ students, and other than a very large rain storm when I wanted to go home on Saturday afternoon-and the fact that I didn't get a "Geek Squad" T-Shirt-things seemed to go smoothly. More technology classrooms have been installed in Chemistry, Geology, and other places I can't remember right now. R18 Live is about a month away and AIS is having fun with that. Although I'm a little disappointed I didn't get invited to test the new system, then again I can barely work the old one(I hope I at least get a coffee cup, Rich are you reading this?) A new larger FTP server has been installed to give ample space for user backups. The internet connection speed has been increased(it didn't take long for people to figure that out). A new firewall was installed to help manage and secure internet resources. New PC's were installed in 3 labs and 1 specialized calling center. The library has been renovated, I haven't been there yet but heard it has a coffee shop now. Our Anti-Virus services have been upgraded to support Windows Vista. Services have been reorganized to hopefully offer the campus community easier access to technology and support. Ho-Hum just another day. Did I miss anything??
