Working out at work, or just feel like you're caught on a career treadmill? Might be both, with this new gadget. CNN reports a treadmill desk was designed by Mayo Clinic, which I think is really clever, especially if it makes working feel like you're caught in an Ok Go video.

I'm still kind of a Web 2.0 agnostic when it comes to some things, and two of them are del.icio.us and technorati.

I think del.icio.us never caught on for me because the name is just too cutesy and bothers me on some level I can't quite put my finger on. I think it's a useful tool and a great idea, relying on the user cloud to tag relevant links, but it's always been one too many steps removed from where I go to do my searching. Google has me trapped - I rely on Google for nearly everything I look for. Anything that takes much more time isn't worth my time and I have to move on to something else. I'm not saying this is best, it's just my reality.

I even tried installing the Firefox plug-in back a year ago when James turned me on to del.icio.us, so I've had two handy tag and search buttons right in my toolbar, and I still don't use the darn thing.

Technorati really puts blogging into perspective for me and it gives me a headache. It seems like an insane amount of time to try to keep up with all the blogging going on. It's the same problem I have with del.icio.us, it's one step further than I'm prepared to go on a regular basis to find information.

I'd be curious to hear a practical application for Technorati, except to find out what other people on blogs are saying about something. To me, it's just a depressing reminder of how small and insignificant one's personal blog is, in the grand scheme of things. I'd rather type away in ignorant bliss of the true size of the blogosphere.

What a luddite!

Okay, I went back and searched Technorati for something regarding distance cycling, something I'm just starting to get into. And I found some blogs related to it. And I have to go home now, but I'm going to do some more reading. I'm intrigued.

Has anyone played with Twitter? I signed up recently, just to give it a whirl, and I may embed this on my own personal page. I'm not sure if it has any practical applications, but it just seems cool to me.

You can post exactly what you're doing, any time in the day, either from the twitter home page, through instant messenger, or via text message on your phone. You can also sign up to get notified when any of your friends post what they are doing. I'm going to try to embed a twitter link into the body of this post so you can see what I'm talking about, hopefully right here...
