I plan to read this article some day, but right now I'm too busy dealing with my email.

Bothers me when people use "addiction" so loosely -- "reality tv addiction" -- "email addiction" -- "addiction to chocolate." etc. Real addiction is hell on earth. These other things may waste time and be a hassle but come on.

Too bad (or fitting) the article from CNN looks like it's long gone. I think my original intent was to ridicule CNN for blowing "email addiction" up to be this big thing, so in many ways, I agree.
However, I do think there are technology addictions that are not taken seriously enough. Online gambling, pornography, and gaming are areas where people can get themselves in real, real trouble. The vast majority of folks who partake in those activities do not get addicted of course, but when they do, they can be very similar to alcoholism and other "real" addictions.
