Progress Continues With Sakai

LITS continues to make progress on confirming that Sakai provides Allegheny with the necessary tools for teaching and learning to meet current and future needs.

The faculty participants in the Sakai Pilot will meet over lunch on Friday January 25th to discuss current experiences with Sakai. If all goes as expected this will put Allegheny once step closer to adopting Sakai as our Learning Management Software (LMS). A summary of that meeting will be posted at that point.

As the instructional technologists continue to work with the pilot faculty, they and others on the LMS group are investigating hosting options and developing tentative plans for transitioning from WebCT to Sakai.

As events unfold more will be posted to this site.

Meeting of Collaborators

Yesterday, the lead collaborators for the NITLE Sakai Pilot met via NITLE's Marratech point to point video conference system. It is amazing how much more effective a conference call is when video is included.

Over the course of the call, participants shared goals for the pilot, identified a structure for learning sakai, and brainstormed a few next steps. In the coming week(s), NITLE will provide access to a standard implementation of Sakai and additional meeting will be scheduled to help develop skills and comfort with Sakai.
