Interesting...
Suspicions were confirmed the pilot faculty are happy with Sakai and believe we are on the right track.
Also discussed at the meeting were two opportunities from NITLE regarding Sakai.
Details about both of these opportunities are being investigated. As details are gathered they will be posted.
Michael Korcuska is the Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation. He spoke with the participants of the NITLE Sakai Usergroup Meeting in Seattle this year. His reflections on this conversation is available on his blog Michael Korcuska Sakai Blog. He has also recently posted his thoughts on the direction of Sakai for community discussion.
The NITLE Sakai Pilot is official in the eyes of the Sakai Foundation as our collaborative pilot is now listed on sakaiproject.org.
Michael Korcuska has been named Executive Director of the Sakai Foundation, effective July 23, 2007. In this role, he will lead the Foundation's activities in developing technology, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration on behalf of the Sakai community.
NITLE has brought on board Martin Ramsay to assist with the NITLE Sakai Pilot. Martin brings a wealth of experience with Sakai from his work with the Appalachian College Association's LAMP Project.
Currently, Martin is connecting with the point people from the participating colleges to add to his understanding of needs and goals for the project expressed during the project's application process.
The LMS committee has accepted an invitation to join the NITLE Sakai Pilot Project. This project is a collaboration between NITLE, Southwestern University, Mt Holyoke College, University of Richmond and Allegheny College.
The pilot allows Allegheny to test drive Sakai, receive training and share experiences with similar institutions. The pilot runs from the end of March 2007 through December 31, 2007.
