Meeting Notes 12/19/06
Today was spent looking at Sakai through two different sites http://sakaisandbox.com and http://www.academusopencampus.com/.
It was really helpful to see Sakai through two different sites as it gave the group a better understanding of what options are available for configuration. The discussion focused a fair amount on usability and completeness of tool sets.
The discussion was led by Linda Bills. Karen Stone and Alla Meleshevich of OET joined the discussion.

I was very impressed with Sakai. It has a good toolset, and judging from the differences between the two sites we looked it, it appears to be very configurable - both on the site level and the course level. I also get the impression that this is a rapidly developing project, and the few tools currently lacking or immature will be available soon - maybe even before we would get to the stage of piloting a product.
I like, too, that you can brand your Sakai site (i.e, the users don't ever have to see the name Sakai).
Given also that Sakai is open source (or community source), I think it will be one of our top contenders.
